Secure FTP Wrapper 3 is a Java-based program designed to easily make
your existing FTP server a secure FTP server. In this release the
Wrapper allows for a 256-bit encrypted Secure Sockets Layer, or
SSL/TLS, connection to be made to your FTP server which protects
both the control channel (username/password) and the data channel
(your information).
This version of the Wrapper supports both explicit and implicit
SSL connections. This behavior not only brings the Wrapper up-to-date,
but it also allows the Wrapper to work with even more secure FTP clients.
Secure FTP Wrapper 3 is our best version ever. Some of the major improvements
include: virtual hosting, a more complete configuration manager, IP-based
ACL control, limited EPSV support, better certificate support, Mode Z (zip
compression during data transfer), and CCC (clear command channel) support.
The Wrapper is supported on Windows, MacOS X, and any Unix platform where a
Java 2 runtime environment (version 1.4+) is present.
Secure FTP Wrapper 3 is the first solution that provides SSL-based data
encryption and still allows you the option to pick the FTP server of your
choice. The Wrapper is easier to setup, maintain, and since it is
written in Java it is inherently more secure (no exploitable buffer overruns).
Since crypto is present in this product, US export restrictions are in effect.
